Seed Yield and Purity of Radish Hybrid Cultivar Pyungji Yeoreum as Affected by Nitrogen Levels and Planting Ratios between Two Parental Lines

Abstract
Effects of nitrogen level and planting ratio between parental lines on seed yield and purity of ¢¥Pyungji Yeoreum¢¥ radish were studied. Sowing, transplanting, and harvesting time of two parental lines, Line No. 25- and Line No. 27-, in 1990 and 1991 were respectively Dec. 20 and 15, Apr. 6 and 7, and July 15. Four nitrogen levels ranging from 40 to 160 §¸/§µ with fixed rate of phosphate and potassium at 160 §¸/§µ were applied. Forty §¸/§µ N resulted in the highest rate of pod set and seed production with Line No. 25, while Line No. 27 exhibited the similar trend for pod set but number of flower stalk increased with N level resulting in the highest seed yield with 160 §¸/§µ. As for seed purity, seeds harvested from Line No. 25 was 100 percent pure irrespective of planting ratio while those harvested from Line No. 27 showed different percentage according to planting ratio such as 60% with the ratio of 1 : 1 (ratio of Line No. 25 to Line No. 27), 93% with the ratio of 2 : 1, and 98% with the ratio of 3 : 1.
